工作经历：

1998年8月至今厦门大学任材料科学与工程系教授、博士生导师。

2004年4月至2012年11月厦门大学副校长。

2001年4月至2004年10月厦门大学材料科学与工程系主任。

2000年1月至7月美国肯塔基大学数学系访问教授。

1995年8月至1998年7月西南交通大学应用力学与工程系教授、博士生导师（12月）。

1993年7月至1995年7月美国福特汽车公司工程师、美国内布拉斯加大学、亚利桑那大学访问教授等职。

1990年7月-1993年7月美国康乃尔大学、美国陆军高性能计算机研究中心从事博士后研究。

教育经历：

1990年7月美国明尼苏达大学哲学博士

1985年9月美国明尼苏达大学理学硕士

1982年1月：东北工学院（现东北大学）工学学士

研究领域

材料的微结构与性能。主要从事新型储能材料和纳米结构材料的第一性原理计算、铁电陶瓷材料微结构演变的原位谱学表征方法、以及含硅软物质微结构和性能表征方法和本构理论研究。
